What do we mean by Community Development?
Community development is an all-encompassing term that stems from an individual dealing with a local issue right through to large social economy enterprises. McGarry Consulting have worked in a professional and private capacity with volunteers, statutory agencies, funders, representative bodies, sports clubs and community groups. During this time we have undertaken much pioneering work, including developing NI's first 'Community Training & Development Model' on behalf of Coleraine Borough Council.
How do we avoid Consultation Fatigue?Community development is heavily reliant on funding in an ever decreasing funding environment. Therefore it is essential that community and voluntary organisations seek to improve their skills, enhance their governance and clarify their strategy in order for them to survive and grow. McGarry Consulting can help develop leadership, funding, marketing, management and lobbying skills of key individuals. We can also assist with planning, strategy, and governance for groups seeking long-term sustainability.
The benefits of professional support when seeking funding:We have worked with every aspect of funding, from devising departmental procedure manuals and reviewing selection procedures through to conducting economic appraisals, audits and verifications. In addition, funders have also requested us to enhance group's governance and strengthen partnership agreements. Allied with our economic development experience and technical knowledge this leaves us well placed to cater for the increasingly professional needs of the voluntary and community sector.
